Taking the kids out of school for travel?

By Paula Shelton, editor, www.flyingwithkids.com

It was such an exciting day when my eldest first went to school. Her backpack was bigger than she was and the smile on her face just as wide. But with Gran, Grandad, two aunties, one uncle and a growing number of cousins all on the opposite side of the World, we were inevitably challenged to take her out of school for a 'summer' visit.
I agonised! What should I do? What would be best for my bright little button's education? Would it make any difference? I can honestly say, 'no'! Our global travels simply increased her global perspective. She grew in confidence and sociability. It was a all-round success for family and for education.
Have you taken your kids out of school for a vacation? What do you think about taking the kids out of school for travel?
